The Department Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University invites applications for a Tenure-track position in the broad area of neural engineering, including neuro-modulation systems, neural prosthetics, brain-machine interface, and cognitive control systems. Of particular interest is research at the interface of this area and hardware, embedded system, and component design.
Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. or equivalent, a strong background in electrical and computer engineering or a closely related field, excellent teaching skills, demonstrated excellence in research and success in collaborative and inter-disciplinary research at the interface between engineering, biology, and medicine. The successful candidate will be expected to initiate and lead an independent research program of international caliber. The successful candidate will also be expected to teach at the undergraduate and post-graduate level in electrical and computer engineering. Collegial interaction will be an important element in success. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The Department has a vibrant and growing research program in embedded systems, signal processing and sensing with great national and international visibility. The Department has strong collaborative relationships in the adjacent Texas Medical Center, which contains two medical schools, thirteen health and science specialty institutions, thirteen renowned hospitals, and the world’s leading cancer research center.
