Kush Tripathi Asked:

WHERE TO APPLY FOR A JOB AFTER BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING AS A FRESHER ? AND WHAT AREAS APART FROM SERVICING CAN BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERS GET A JOB?

danish raees • Bio medical engineer can get jobs for sales in Pharmaceutical industry hosppitals and research institutes in education institutes

Arno Pantalone • You may want to explore the Regulatory Affairs aspect of Biomedical Engineering (www.raps.org) , the demand is high. Other areas that may be of interest are Biomarkers, Functional and Molecular Imaging all very strong areas for the future. Good Luck!

Dishita patel • What areas of biomedical engineering draw interest in you? You might want to look at your 3rd-4th year coursework and find relevant positions in market. I would suggest taking an internship or training in particular area of interest to get a better understanding of your future goals

Avanish Pandey • After completion of B.tech in biomedical engineering is there only option to do servicing of the instruments by roaming here & there …
i am fed of this job profile will u ppl plz suggest me some job option other than service engineer and in which our knowledge could be utilized..

Dishita patel • @Avanish: You could also look for options in QA and RA as Arno suggested earlier. Other options would involve medical imaging ..

Snehasis Mitra • SAY COOL YOU HAVE TO FACE THE MUSIC FOR 3-4 YEARS AT LEAST, BUT DO NOT ENTER INTO HOSPITAL AS MOST OF THE CORPORATE HOSPITAL GOING FOR OUTSOURCING, AND VENDOR ARE MANAGING THE SYSTEM AND NOT GOOD IN GENERAL

Avanish Pandey • @Mitra sir :so as a biomedical engineer in hospital is not a good option ?
sir can we learn or practicise something in hospitals as a biomedical engineer .

Avanish Pandey • @Dishita : thanks , i have seen the site for which Arno is talking about but they all are asking about 5 to 6 years of experience intheir respective fields .
if you come to know about job according to my profile then please let me know .. thanx .

Satish Chandratre • Very true………..freshers biomedical engineers keep high expectation right from the beginning and the worst part is most of them are not willing for hard work. They don’t realize that this hard work will pay them in future.

Other advantage of jobs like sale/service engineer is that, these people get chance to visit various places, meet different kinds of people at the cost of the company they work for without spending money of their own and thus get chance to develop there personality for future success.

Dr. Reji Rajan Varghese • I value the comment of the Snehasis Mitra, who is an well experience person from the hospital side and I agree that the newer trend is for more outsourcing in the forms like AMC, CAMC, etc. With this growing trend I feel it is necessary to redefine the role of a biomedical engineer in a hospital.

However for a fresher I feel, in the initial stages of the career an experience in a well established biomedical engineering department of hospital is nice experience, to get a practical exposure.

Feroze Kareem • Apart from servicing there are lot of options.

You can continue your study for Masters, especially if you want to specialize in a particular area in the Biomedical field. This is especially useful if you are looking for jobs in the manufacturing sector or R&D.

If you have interest in Sales, you can try to get in to the field of Marketing. This is a field that is more challenging and rewarding and the growth up the career ladder is faster compared to the service field.

If you have a like for IT, you may try the field the Healthcare informatics. This will take to positions like PACS/RIS Administrator.

Good luck

Shakeel Faizan • Freshers in Biomedical engineering can start with sales, service and hospitals for initial training and experience. As you start getting experience you start getting good offers.Patience is the key.Comparbly software engineers might get more salaries but growth and job security is the main issue in software sector.Biomedical engg got a slow growth in salary and opportunities but job security is quite good.
If any one is quite interested in Research or Manufacturing jobs, then going for masters is manadatory.
A new sector emerging is Patent and research analysis.Lot of companies have emerged in this sector.Biomedical engineers do the patenting analysis job for medical devices. While doing this job you can always enhance your skills by doing certifications and getting licences as a patent agent and there are so many biomed engineers who have become Intellectual property Attorneys getting highly paid than any other industry.
For a position as an Application specialist try working on the equipment which interests you more.Getting atleast a couple of years of clinical experince for these jobs will be quite fruitful.
If aiming for academics then start doing masters and PHD…
If you want to succeed as a Biomedical Engineer plan better, stick on to the jobs even though they pay u less than other engineering professions,Start building on your skills,Specialise in some equipment modality….Best Of Luck
