How to find a Biomedical Job in India as a Fresher (FAQ’s)?

Biomedical Engineering is a field , which is developing tremendously in India, But Students who study this course of Biomedical Engineering in India are not happy with this course , the only reason being is stated as

” We don’t Get Biomedical Engineer‘s job as Fresher “

Today, I want to address the same issue with the perspective of student who is like me, reading status updates on facebook & who is making 🙁 smileys when asked about jobs ,Please read the information mentioned Below carefully, May be something someday may help you in getting a dream job like this only.

I would like to tell firstly that

Scope Of Biomedical Engineering in Next Few years

Biomedical Engineering(BME) is the most corporate and well designed industry and has lots of opportunities around the globe. In today’s world if an Multi-National Company (MNC) don’t have a BME domain, then they are lagging something seriously .. Bio medical giants like GE , Wipro, Siemens , L&T , Stryker , Zimmer , Phillips , B. Brown, Toshiba, (“List Never stops” ) are in need of youngsters with great potentials and brains . Even companies like TATA sons , Kodak, Olympus , BPL , Hitachi had entered into Biomedical business few years back and other giant companies like LG , Sony, YAMAHA , and Bose are having future plans to enter into the Biomedical business . So Opportunities are endless as far as scope is concerned.

Now you all will be thinking that this thing we read in every another job site or any Biomedical Site , What is special about this post which is titled as

How to find a Biomedical Job in India as a Fresher?

So now let me start. I would like to put an end to some misconceptions related to Jobs in Biomedical Engineering

  • THERE ARE LOT OPPORTUNITIES FOR BME FRESHERS ,JUST YOU NEED TO SEARCH AND APPLY FOR IT.

IF YOU ARE A FRESHER AND LOOKING FOR A JOB , YOU HAVE TO SPEND TIME ON INTERNET , HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE COMPANY PROFILES RANDOMLY AND HAVE TO APPLY FOR IT BLINDLY

(Remember you are just a fresher and you won’t be getting any manager post directly .To reach there you have to go through all the stairs on the way of your career
so if any sales or service job has been listed just apply for it .. work there for 6 Months  to 1 year then try for some better opportunity (this is for both UG and PG BMEs ) !!! After getting the experience only you will be able to move on to higher positions in biomedical industry.

But Now the question arises

How Do I Do that?

THE BEST WAY TO APPLY FOR A COMPANY IS

Go the company website and go through the careers tab and look for the vacancy. In case you dint find any then open the contact tab and call the relevant person. Calling the company contact number is always beneficial before you apply for it . it’s my personal experience . If the vacancies are not listed or not mentioned , there might be several factors like they must not have updated the career section , there might be some technical error because of which the OAF (Online Application Form ) is not working properly or the company people don’t feel their website as a relevant medium for promoting job vacancies openly . and second thing is if you make a call before sending your resume to the particular listed mail address , you can confirm the specific mail address and if you are lucky enough your call will be directed to HR . If this happens just make yourself all prepared and your aim must be to attract HR at any cost (weather with your vocabulary , experience , knowledge , training experience or technical terms ) because 1st impression is the last impression . And if you get a chance to talk to HR via call , just ask for the mail address again apart from the mail address you got from the councilor . HR may give his personal mail address or mail address of him given by the company . If he ask you to send the resume , just send it and call back again for the confirmation if he received your resume .

So now you have applied for the Job in Biomedical Engineering. But do you know why your applications are rejected at BIG MNC’s . Today I will tell you the reason why it happens?

” Why we are not able to get Big MNC job even after applying again n again as a fresher ?”

Answer to this question is the thing which represent yourself to the recruiter, the thing which has to say all about your academic qualification. The piece of paper which has all 20 years of educational academic exposure u had.

Its your

RESUME

Here I wont say anything about drafting of resume which u will get at any other job site. I will say about it but at a later stage, But for now the fact is that

RESUME is the main component of the whole process. Nowadays resumes are made very short and limited. It must be max 2 to 3 pages. Don’t send the resume blindly to any company. Before sending it to anyone you have to edit it according to the position for what you are applying for . Resume must contain a cover letter always in which it must me mentioned in brief like for what position you are applying for and why you are suitable for particular position. In Major companies like Siemens ,BPL and Phillips etc they recruit fresher ..They use special scanning software setup for short listing the resumes because the resumes what they get will be in thousands per day . The Software look for the particular key word in your resume softcopy , which is stored already in it .As more the no of keyword matches the software gives a particular score to the resume . then during rendering , according to the score the resumes get short listed . So you have to use some specific key words which is very relevant to the job profile .

So if your resume is short of some keywords , you may not get a call from MNC . This I am talking for those person’s who don’t have any reference like me.

Now the Next question is

” WHAT HAPPENS IN A HEALTHCARE JOB INTERVIEW? “

“HOW N WHAT TO PREPARE FOR JOB INTERVIEW?”

In a job interview, you need not know about everything in this world, you just need to know about the piece of paper ” RESUME” which you have submitted, as it will determine. What all questions are put up to you?

If you get an interview call please keep these things in mind, before attending the interview.
Health care core companies generally don’t conduct aptitude tests because they are not bulk recruiters like IT companies . IT companies use aptitude test strategy just to eliminate weak candidates. Even if there is an aptitude test , there is a saying “IF YOU HAVE R.S AGARWAL IN YOUR HAND YOU WILL BE IN SAFE HANDS ” prepare for the aptitude test from R S Agarwal thoroughly . If previous question paper is available on web then go through its and solve it.
The obvious and most important procedure followed by the healthcare core companies for recruitment is technical interview rounds which may be one or two. If there is an technical interview for the post of a service engineer or Graduate Engineering Trainee (GET ), you have to be throw in the basics subjects like Basic Electrical and Electronics . Generally elementary knowledge in Electronics are tested . you must know how to use a Multi meter , you must have the capability of circuit debugging , knowledge about Digital and analog systems , muP , muC , LIC,VLSI , etc subjects . Then after this they ll come to the core subjects like DSP , Biomaterials , Biomedical Instrumentation etc .Most of the company recruiters main focuses on Final year project . Then they may ask about problem solving skills and reasoning skills . you must be fully prepared for the round before going for it and you must know each and every line what you have mentioned in the resume .

Now something More. I don’t want to EXAGGERATE  you people. But still if you don’t mind reading.

” WHAT HAPPENS IN A BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING INTERVIEW? “

HR round will be as usual like other HR rounds. If you are applying for a sales position as a fresher , then you will be asked to sell a particular product in the interview , for that you must have the know ledge of the product and its specifications and parameters and principals .
BME Interview Process : Ask for coming in , wish the interviewer , start with general introduction , college schooling , CGPA marks etc , then Training , Final year project , any experience during course of study will be an addition , Always try to explain with examples , don’t blabber , don’t be over confident , don’t try to bluff at all during technical round , if you don’ have any idea about the thing which he asked then sincerely say you don’t know about it , and in case if you know something partially just say it and ask if Sir can I Try for it . Be honest and frank . for eg if he ask about 8052 muC , you must explain him on a paper , starting with the PIN diagram , then Internal architecture diagram , types of flags , registers , interrupts etc
.He may confuse you even if you have drawn something correct only , at that point of time you have to be in yourself and say what you believe in .. confidently. Don’t be nervous if you have committed some mistake in diagram or answering a question .. just move on and concentrate on next part.

NOW AFTER SELECTION

” HOW TO MAKE A CHOICE THIS IS THE RIGHT COMPANY FOR YOU?”

Don’t hesitate to take up sales and service job if it come to because it is the only way if you are a fresher just to enter into the company . gain the knowledge and work experience then try for some better opportunity . Even if you are going for M.Tech or MBA your work experience as sales and service engineer will be counted and you will be getting special credits in your MBA or M.Tech . anyways , I have wrote a lot . Thanks from baring my lecture .

THE BETTER YOU WILL DO FOR YOUR CAREER THE BEST WILL BE YOUR FUTURE. SO ALL THE BEST FOR UPCOMING ENDEAVORS .
