PhD Position in Biomedical Engineering in Switzerland

The research project focuses on the improvement of the efficacy of deep brain stimulation and the gain of new information about its mechanism of action by extended intraoperative data recording.

The aim of the project is to intraoperatively evaluate symptoms (tremor, rigidity) and movements using accel erometry, to process, manage, and visualize the high quantity of data and, if possible, to propose a disease-specific mathematical model.

Requirements Diploma/Master in biomedical engineering or similar;

strong interest in basic medical research in neurosciences

strong background in signal processing and algorithms

preferably programming skills in Java

friendly and highly motivated attitude

readiness to work in an interdisciplinary and international team

English skills required

French and German skills would be a plus

We offer The project will be performed in collaboration with the neurosurgical departments in Basel and Clermont-Ferrand (France). It is financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF). You will be officially supervised by the University of Basel while the technical and scientific supervision will be assured by the University of Applied Sciences and the implicated medical doctors.This is a fixed-term 3-year position.
