Summer Internship Program at NASA Centers
NSBRI’s summer program provides the opportunity for undergraduate, graduate or medical students from across the country to join ongoing project activities and gain hands-on experience in space biomedical research at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX, NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, OH, and NASA Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, CA.
Since 1998, 136 students representing over 70 colleges and universities have participated in the 10-15 week program. The program pays interns an hourly wage but does not cover housing or travel.
Eligibility
Applicants must have completed their second year of undergraduate studies by the start of the summer internship program. The program is open to U.S. citizens.
How to Apply
To be considered for this program, applicants must complete the online application which is accessible each year beginning October 1. As part of the online process, applicants must upload a CV or resume and a letter of interest, which includes the dates during the summer that they would be available. Applicants are responsible for obtaining two letters of recommendation, which must be submitted through NSBRI’s online system. Lastly, official college transcripts must be mailed to the address below and postmarked by January 31.

Deadline
The deadline to apply for the 2011 program is January 31, 2011. Applications must be completed at the deadline to be considered for review. Faxed or emailed letters of recommendation will not be considered. Applications are reviewed in March, and applicants are informed of the status of their applications as soon as possible.
