What is B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering?
B.Tech. Biomedical Engineering – Stands for Bachelor of Technology in Biomedical Engineering. Typically, a B.Tech. is for four years, minimum eligibility for which is an intermediate (10 + 2) in science. Biomedical Engineering is the the science of applying technological and engineering principles to the field of biosciences and medicine. Subjects usually studied under this degree are Anatomy and Physiology, Biomedical Instrumentation, Digital Principles, Computer Architecture, Mathematics, Biomechanics, Bio Transducers and Electrodes, Clinical Biochemistry, Medical Electronics, Biostatistics, Pathology, Microbiology, Medical physics, Medical Image Processing etc.
Basic Eligibility
For admission in a bachelor’s degree, the candidate must have passed the higher secondary school certificate (10+2) examination with science subject such as biology, maths and chemistry. For IITs, It is mandatory to qualify in the Joint Entrance Examinations (J.E.E). The duration for the course is 4 years. For regional colleges AIEEE or region based Engineering examination tests are there. Private colleges conduct there own test. List of Biomedical Colleges can be found here. You can apply depneding upon college.
Mathematics is compulsory, However in Manipal and VIT University, 50% seats are for Biology based students but students have to appear in the entrance test conducted by these colleges
