GE Healthcare is planning to increase its workforce by about 10% in India by the end of this year, as it looks to strengthen in-country research. According to Press Trust of India, Terri Bresenham, President and CEO, GE Healthcare South Asia, revealed these plans at the recent launch of its flagship electronic remote monitoring programme, CritiNext, at Delhi. She said that they will be adding 400 personnel to their current strength of 4000 employees in India by the end of this year.
Ms Bresenham also said the company has plans to enhance its research and development team of 1,200 people in India. “Out of these 400 [new employees], between 150 and 200 people will be in research and development,” she added.
Answering a financial question, she said that 25% of revenue comes from the Indian manufacturing facilities while 75% is derived from imports.
GE Healthcare has joined with Fortis Healthcare to provide care to critically ill patients in small towns in India through CritiNext. It enables remote hospitals to provide advanced consultation, care and monitoring to critically ill patients without having to physically transfer them to specialised facilities.
