The Department of Biomedical Engineering at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Shillong, Meghalaya is organising Workshop on ‘ADVANCES IN COMPUTATIONAL NEUROSCIENCE’ from 24th March to 29th March by Initiatives on Neuro-informatics Computational Neuroscience Education (INCNE), Department of Biotechnology, Government of India in collaboration with National Brain Research Centre (NBRC), Gurgaon, Manesar, Haryana.
Computational neuroscience (CNS) is a frontier area, challenging scientists from computing, biosciences and engineering. This is a first of its kind workshop in North- Eastern India and the area needs much development in the country. Faculty of NEHU, the pioneering central university (since 1973) in the region, has teamed with similar faculty of premier institutions in the area, as IIT-Guwahati, Assam Central University, Tezpur University and North-East Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS)-Shillong, to marshal this workshop as they have rich and relevant expertise. The Workshop aims to provide educational/research exposure to young scientists from multidisciplinary fields in this domain.
The target audience for this workshop are researchers (from physics, chemistry, mathematics, statistics and life sciences), engineers (M.Sc./M.Tech/Ph.D in related fields of biomedical engineering, computer engineering, electrical and electronics engineering), and neurophysiologists/clinicians working in computational neuroscience field are invited to apply. The programme is also open for young faculty/scientists below the age of 40 years with demonstrated interests in the field. Based on the above criteria the selection committee would scrutinize and shortlist the applications received after advertisement.
Maximum number of participants would be limited to 35 for attending this programme. TA/DA as per NEHU norms would be restricted to 3rd tier AC Railway ticket for research scholars and students, and 2nd tier AC Railway ticket for scientists by shortest route from their place of work.
