IMPLANTABLE TEMPERATURE MEASURING MICROCHIP LAUNCHED BY POSITIVE ID

Microchip Will Integrate With PositiveID‘s Wireless Body(TM) Platform to Provide Early Warning at the Onset of an Illness

PositiveID Corporation (“PositiveID” or the “Company“) (Nasdaq:PSID) announced today that it has completed the development of its temperature-sensing microchip in conjunction with development partner RFID Solutions of Malaga, Spain. The microchip, which uses radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, is able to measure internal temperature within the body and communicate that temperature wirelessly to an external reader. The Company plans to integrate the temperature-sensing microchip with its Wireless Body™ platform.

CERVICAL CANCER TREATED HEBALLY-BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES INNOVATION

Scientists in Malaysia have claimed to have isolated a natural compound from a local plant which could prevent and treat the dreaded cervical cancer in women.

A team of researchers from Universiti Putra Malaysia has discovered a natural compound, isolated from a local herbal plant named “lempoyang” which it claims can prevent and treat cervical cancer.

Lempoyang is a flowering plant from the ginger family which is commonly found in Peninsular Malaysia. The compound is the first reported and documented

finding that substantiated the ability of a natural compound of local plant origin to eliminate cancer cells of the cervix.

OTTO BACK HEALTHCARE PROVIDES PROSTHETIC ARM TO HAITI EARTHQUAKE VICTIM-BIOMEDICAL TREATMENT

Austrian Christian Kandlbauer, the first European to use a mind-controlled prosthetic arm

Ottobock Healthcare does it again! They have restored the entire right arm function of a 19 year old Haiti earthquake survivorw with a mind-controlled prosthetic.

As a follow-up from our popular past article about Christian Kandlbauer, a 21-year-old Austrian man who lost both his arms by getting electrocuted. He dedicatied four years of his life to Otto Bock Healthcare as a test subject and surgeons finally conducted the surgery to connect Christian’s natural chest nerves into their prosthetic arm prototype so that his neurological impulses can control the prosthetic device. We now introduce you to Christella Monteau, who was buried under Haiti’s earthquake debris for 17 hours and had to witness her younger sister’s death before finally being rescued. As a result of her being crushed under rubble, her right arm had to be amputated above the elbow.

PSA DETECTS TUMOUR BY BEING FRIENDLY WITH CANCER CELL

A group of researchers in biomedical science jobs have demonstrated that the production of prostate specific antigen (PSA) could be connected to tumour growth.

In what the Duke University Medical Center research team claims to be the first discovery of its kind, scientists found that the antibody can move outside of cancerous cells and forms a complex capable of binding to a specific receptor.

This process can stimulate cancer cell growth, with scientists confident that the findings strengthen the argument for measuring PSA as a “marker of tumour progression”.

Researchers say a PET imaging agent is able to detect a biomarker for Alzheimer’s disease, in a new study hailed as a “landmark” in the fight against the debilitating disease.

In the study, the amount of beta-amyloid deposits in the brains of the living on a PET scan matched up with what was discovered later during an autopsy.
“It’s a landmark paper, because it’s the first time that, apart from presentations of these data at meetings, …a tracer like that has been validated systematically against neuropathology,” Dr. Karl Herholz, a neurologist with the University of Manchester and president of SNM’s Brain Imaging Council, told DOTmed News. “It’s not a big surprise it’s that good, but it’s certainly important to document that.”

BINOCS 2011-NATIONAL LEVEL SYMPOSIUM IN BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING

A National Level Synposium on February 24 & 25, Biomedical Engineering. – Adhiyamaan College of Engineering (Autonomous). Hosur

Binocs-Biomedical Novelties for Conserving Sapiens is A National Level Symposium was first ever held in 2008..And as awaited the event turned out to be a grand success with more than 1000 participants…Even this year we are gonna conduct the same symposium Binocs’11 with much more excitement that ever before.. Are you a Technocracy??? Waiting to explore your technical and non technical talents within you??? Come on!!! Here is your playground to voice your innovative ideas in an effective manner, we provide an opportunity to network, compete and grow with the best…The main motive of Binocs’11 is to motivate students to showcase  their ability within them..Binocs’11’s attempt to encourage the efforts of those who would like to conceive for a better future…We provides an ideal platform for the thinkers of this generation. For those who wish to voice their innovative Biomedical ideas in an effective manner, we provide an opportunity to network, compete and grow with the best. Expose your technical and presentation skills at our launch pad for students to discuss the emerging technology issues, explore a variety of perspectives and probable solutions. After all, the best designs of today’s technology started as mere blueprints, so who knows where yours might take you…And the one who deserves to be the best would be surely crowned with cash prizes of worth 20K….ooofoooo!!!!! Still what are you contemplating about.. Start posting us your ideas through Email…You will be valued for that…Hurry up!!!!  Before the dead line…
