Interactive Workshop on “Medical Device Safety Guidelines” at Chandigarh

Dear Sir/Madam,

NABH is happy to announce Interactive Workshop on “Medical Device Safety Guidelines” at Chandigarh on 20th June 2015, in the series of NABH knowledge workshops.

This workshop introduces best practice guidelines for use and maintenance of medical devices, including selection, management, and assessment. In a time where healthcare technologies particularly the medical devices are finding an important and vital role in healthcare delivery, unsafe practices could not only defy the very purpose of their use but also create hazardous situations. Hence it is important to provide good management, maintenance and assessment eco-systems to the medical equipment. This workshop aims to provide the relevant knowledge to the participants.

Medtech 2014- National Level Technical Symposium

About

MEDITECH is the National Level Technical Symposium being organized by the Department of Biomedical engineering of the Osmania university on 14th & 15th March 2014, this Symposium is an event presenting an interdisciplinary forum of lectures, it gives a platform for exploring and analyzing the ideas and solutions while outlining the advances in medical technology. MEDITECH’14 particularly aims at dissolving the boundaries between Engineering and Medicine, thereby emphasizing on the exchange of knowledge and application on the recent upgradation of healthcare industry through an interdisciplinary forum of themed discussions ,paper and poster presentation sessions ,module presentations, product demonstrations and informative lectures.

Electrical Detection of Medical Malware

Hospital rooms beep and flash with many devices that are increasingly getting infected with malware (see “Computer Viruses Are ‘Rampant’ on Medical Devices in Hospitals”). But for several reasons, these gadgets are often incompatible with commercial security software.

Now, new technology developed by academic researchers could catch most malware on the devices just by noting subtle changes in their power consumption. This could give hospitals a quick way to spot equipment with dangerous vulnerabilities and take the machines offline. The technology could also apply to computer workstations used in industrial control settings such as power plants.

Bioyantra 2013: National Symposium on Medical Devices, Chennai

The Department of BioMedical Engineering, SRM University, Chennai, has organized a series of ‘BIOYANTRA’ a National Level Technical Event in the yester years. In this year, it is organized with the theme: “National Symposium on Medical Devices” in association with Philips Healthcare India Ltd & Consortium of Biomedical Engineers. This Symposium emphasizes on the interaction of Medical Industry professional with the young biomedical engineering students. Often it is a big problem for employment in the medical industry for fresher due to the lack of knowledge about the modern medical devices in the market and its technology. As we know that health related problems are increasing day by day. This increases the demand of health care services. In order to reduce the healthcare related problems, first we have to identify the diseases in its early stage and give the treatment for curing the disease. For that, innovation is required in the biomedical field, that is, low cost medical equipment which is affordable for the common man should be the main goal and mantra of a biomedical engineer. To bring this dream into reality, both doctors and medical industry should interact with biomedical engineering students to share their experiences, problems and knowledge in order to create a better world by giving better healthcare services for the patients. Hence, this event is an attempt to create new innovative product in future by sharing the past and present experience of medical industry professionals with the young biomedical engineers.
