Position Description:
The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Widener University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position, at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting Fall 2012.

Qualifications:
Earned doctorate degree in Biomedical Engineering or a closely-related engineering field, with expertise in medical devices, biomechanics, bionanotechnology or bioMEMS; Strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate engineering education; Demonstrated ability, or potential, to initiate and direct externally funded scholarly work of high caliber; Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills; and, Commitment to the growth of the Department of Biomedical Engineering.

Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses, including laboratory and design courses. The successful candidate is also expected to publish his/her scholarly work, develop and sustain an externally funded research program in his/her area of expertise, advise students and work collegially in support of the continuing growth of the School of Engineering.

Widener University, an independent, metropolitan institution, offers programs at four campuses in Pennsylvania and Delaware. About 7,000 graduate and undergraduate students attend Widener University in eight degree-granting schools. The School of Engineering is located on the main campus and consists of the five Departments of Biomedical, Chemical, Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, with nearly 500 students enrolled in undergraduate and graduate programs. The School of Engineering has been steadily growing over the last decade and will be celebrating its 150 year anniversary in 2012.
